France's Kristina Mladenovic defeated eighth seed Daria Gavrilova of Australia 7-5, 6-3 in an enthralling semi-final contest on a picture perfect afternoon at Victoria Park on Saturday to reach the final of the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open.The first semi-final was a thriller between two players whose presence in the final four was a surprise after Gavrilova disposed of world number one Angelique Kerber in straight sets on Friday, while Mladenovic scored a win over American Bethanie Mattek-Sands.It was clear from the outset that the two were evenly matched as they exchanged service games in a nervy first set.
