The Cop Who Body Slammed James Blake Is Now Suing The Tennis Star And NYPD

Former tennis star James Blake (pictured) made national headlines back in September 2015 when he was body slammed to the ground & handcuffed by a NY Police Department officer in what was called a status of mistaken identity. Well, over two years ever ever the disturbing incident, the cop who tackled Blake isn't just suing the retired tennis player, but the NYPD as well. Well, the NY Post is reporting that officer James Frascatore will file a lawsuit versus Blake, the NYPD, Civilian Complaint Review Board Director Tracy Catapano-Fox & HarperCollins Publishers, that published Blake's book. Blake, 37, discussed the incident & accused Frascatore of racial profiling in a book he co-authored called Ways of Grace. Shortly after the incident took place, Blake got an apology from then-NYPD commissioner William Bratton.

In 2015, the officer pounced on Blake while responding to reports of armed suspects robbing couriers in an apparent status of mistaken identity. "Blake & [the officer] shook hands & patted each other on the back. Over the following few years, however, Frascatore believes Blake changed his account to a "narrative of victimization" & profited from it, the suit says. Frascatore never faced an internal NYPD experience after Blake settled by the city, but the officer remains on modified duty, according to the suit.
